dedicate
as the title indicates, this is a dedication. the photo below is dedicated to dope street photographer i know and wouldn't have gotten to this point if it wasn't for myspace. yeah, myspace. since then, i've hung out with him a couple times and missed a few other times where we could have hooked up and shoot. his name is john coyne, cool with a great eye and a humongous passion for what he does.
you can find his crafty artwork at caughtinthescramble.com. go there. now!

artfully dallas
street, murial and sculpture art in dallas was very hard to find. especially street art. in fact, it seemed it can only be found in the deep ellum section/district of dallas, a small area full of dive bars, galleries, cafes and what-not, 1/4 mile east of downtown dallas. so, i think it's safe to say that the art scene in dallas is ironically small despite how large dallas is.
enjoy.
talib does dallas
one of my hopes while in dallas, was to go to a hip hop show and snap some shots. as a photographer from liberal bay area california trying to work some magic in, well, not so liberal texas, was definitely a hard challenge. like a foreign challenge. there just so happened to be a talib kweli/ozomatli show at the palladium in dallas. i had a little resistance at the door after i bought my ticket to get in, but after speaking with KC who was in charge of media, she was very understanding and made it possible to bring my cameras in. phew. that took patience, a quick tongue and persistance.
thank you KC!
the one and only, talib kweli.

orange & black
congrats to SF Giants in winning the world series!
before i continue on, i must also clarify something. i love seeing competition in sports. by any means, i'm not a sports fanatic for any particular team/sport. i just enjoy seeing a good, suspenseful and exciting win. usually, those can be seen during playoffs of any sport. it goes without saying, i live in a city that's pretty much neutral when it comes to football and baseball in the bay area. we have 2 teams to pick for each sport. i always root for both teams to have success in their sport, but when both teams play each other, i try to stay neutral, however, i sometimes end up rooting for teams from san fran. so how i saw the playoffs? this non sports fanatic saw the san francisco giants dominate the playoffs. they beat atlanta, convincingly beat philly AND texas. they truly earned and deserve the champion title. it goes with out saying, hats off to the san francisco giants on a well played (pitched) playoffs and world series!
moving on, instead of shooting stills for this monumental event, i decided to capture video instead. not sure why, but that's what how the creative juices flowed yesterday morning. i'll have the video up soon! until then, enjoy a few of the stills i snapped off.
texas: dallas 1.1
the picture below is dedicated to the state of texas and to the security guy at this building who shook his finger at me indicating no photographs of the building, even though i was on public property and no visible signs stating i couldn't.
